2026 Samoa Language Week - E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u
The 2026 Samoa Language Week theme is:
“E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u”
“From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.”
For Pacific Health Plus, this theme reflects the importance of strong foundations in building healthy communities and future generations. Just as the mountains traditionally protected, nourished and sustained the village, our wellbeing today is strengthened through connection, culture, prevention, movement, family support and caring for one another.
The theme aligns strongly with the work Pacific Health Plus undertakes every day through:
• improving access to healthcare
• supporting prevention and early intervention
• managing long-term conditions
• strengthening family and community wellbeing
• promoting healthier lifestyles and movement
• providing culturally safe and trusted care
Samoa Language Week provides an opportunity not only to celebrate Gagana Samoa and Samoan culture, but also to acknowledge the importance of language, identity, belonging and community in supporting better health and wellbeing outcomes.
As the only Pacific-led general practice in the region, it is also an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the significant contribution Samoan families make to the communities we serve across Porirua, Kāpiti and the wider Wellington region.
