You may be aware of recent national reporting regarding a cyber security incident involving Manage My Health (MMH), a third-party patient portal used by many general practices across Aotearoa New Zealand.

What has happened

Manage My Health has confirmed there was unauthorised access to a specific document storage function within the MMH platform. This incident is being managed directly by Manage My Health in coordination with Health New Zealand and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

    • The incident relates to Manage My Health, not Pacific Health Plus clinical systems.

    • Based on information provided to practices and initial assurance checks with our IT provider, Pacific Health Plus systems have not been identified as affected.

    • Because Manage My Health is used nationally, it is possible that some Pacific Health Plus patients who use MMH may be impacted.

  • According to Manage My Health, the incident relates to documents stored in the “My Health Documents” area of the portal. This may include documents uploaded by users themselves and certain historical hospital or specialist correspondence. GP clinical systems, prescriptions, appointments, and secure messaging were not affected.

  • Manage My Health is responsible for identifying affected individuals and will contact impacted users directly by email, text, or through the MMH portal. Practices have been advised not to contact patients directly, to ensure information remains accurate and consistent.

Register with ManageMyHealth™ next time you visit us and you’ll have access to services such as booking appointments, ordering repeat prescriptions, secure messaging, and email consultations with your GP (email consults may incur a charge).

If you wish to sign up for ManageMyHealth™ talk to us next time you visit us at Pacific Health Plus. You will need to provide an email address and proof of identity. PHP will then provide you with an activation code and instructions on how to complete your registration online.

Similar to internet banking, ManageMyHealth™ uses Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology to ensure your information is completely safe and secure. They also rely on you to keep your password a secret and to take all reasonable measures to protect your information.
