Celebrating Samoa Language Week
Pacific Health Plus staff celebrate Samoa Language Week through language, culture, food, laughter and connection.
Organised by our administration team, the celebration provided an opportunity for staff from across the organisation to pause from their busy day-to-day responsibilities and spend time together recognising Samoan culture and the importance of acknowledging the blessings bestowed upon them through faith, language, identity and community play in health and wellbeing.
Guided by this year’s Samoa Language Week theme:
“E afua mai i mauga tetele manuia o le nu’u”
“From the high mountains are the blessings of the village.”
The celebration reflected the importance of strong foundations, strong families and strong communities.
The event included:
Samoan prayer and traditional hym
• Shared lunch and traditional foods
• Samoan language and cultural activities
• Staff participation and cultural expression
• Music, movement and laughter
• Opportunities to strengthen relationships across teams
As a Pacific-led healthcare provider, Pacific Health Plus recognises that culture is an important part of wellbeing. Creating opportunities for staff to celebrate and share their culture helps to build stronger connections, supports workplace wellbeing and reflects the communities we serve.
A special thank you to Lina Nanai and the administration team for coordinating the event and to all staff who contributed food, time and enthusiasm to make the celebration such a success.
