Pacific Health Plus Kāpiti Hosts Parliamentary Visit
Pacific Health Plus (PHPlus) Kāpiti was pleased to welcome a visit from Ōtaki MP Tim Costley and MP Carl Bates from the Health and ACC Caucus Policy Group, accompanied by staff adviser Grace.
The visit brought together PHPlus leadership and parliamentary representatives for positive and informative discussions on healthcare delivery and community priorities across the Kāpiti region. John Fiso ONZM (CEO) joined Taulalo Fiso (General Manager) and Practice Manager Viliamu-Amusia in hosting the delegation.
Members of the PHPlus Advisory team, including Mike Copeland and Pastor Teremoana Tauira-Maka, participated alongside general practice staff in constructive and helpful discussions focused on current health needs and how services can continue to support the wider Kāpiti population.
Key themes included access to services, mental health — particularly youth mental health — support for older people and people living with disabilities, and the importance of responsive and timely urgent care. These areas were noted as ongoing priorities for Pacific Health Plus.
The visit reinforced a shared commitment to ensuring accessible, high-quality primary care that responds to the evolving needs of Kāpiti communities now and into the future.
